About the event

Join us at Hawk's Hill Farm to learn about permaculture gardening and how to use this method to create your own permaculture garden. In this class led by Leanne Gotvald, you will learn about the permaculture method, how to plan your garden for the spring and have the opportunity to experience a hands on activity of preparing the soil for spring for the permaculture garden at Hawk's Hill Farm.

Permaculture is the concept of utilizing land, resources, people and the environment in a manner that doesn't produce any waste. Think of it as healing the land while you heal yourself. Not only is permaculture a low work method, but it also improves your soil and land.

Leanne Gotvald found her way to permaculture in 2007 when she was researching growing an organic edible garden. Since then she has had several year round permaculture gardens. Along the way with her garden adventures, she has helped others plan and grow their gardens.

Winter is the best time to prepare your garden for spring. Permaculture's no till method involves adding compost to your garden space, smothering the weeds or plants leftover from your summer garden and covering it with mulch. Please bring the directions (N, S, E, W) of your garden site to the class to be used in planning your permaculture garden. Wearing garden clothes for the hands on gardening is suggested.
